Stronger Together

We know incarceration is a major struggle for families. 70×7 Life Recovery walks alongside them while loved ones are absent, and helps families prepare for when loved ones return. We provide social and emotional support to families in need. We believe a family is stronger when they’re together.

There are over 2.3 million inmates in the U.S. prison system. Nearly half of them are parents.

“No one knows what
I’m going through.”

Families and friends of incarcerated individuals are able to meet with others who have walked the same overwhelming journey of a loved one behind bars. Shame. Anger. Guilt. The reality of the loss of an income or parenting partner is devastating. Through Stronger Together, families and friends can ask questions and navigate feelings with people who will pray and listen while sharing strength and hope.

“How do I visit my loved one? Can my children go?”

1 in 3 families goes into debt trying to pay for phone calls and visits with loved ones in prison. The inability to visit has a negative impact on the family, especially children. Stronger Together helps find solutions through the experiences of those who have walked in their shoes.

“Who is going to help watch my kids?”

Needs for childcare, transportation, and more are constantly increasing. We connect families with community partners and resources for help and guidance.

“My neighbors look the other way when they see me coming.”

“There’s a real stigma. Friends stop calling you. But it’s not just friends. Family members. Church members. Your neighbor sees you out on the driveway and runs the other way.”
– Mary

Friends and family vanish as a result of “guilt by association” and generally distance themselves from those with incarcerated loved ones. Stronger Together provides community, support, and encouragement when people need it most.

“What if my child goes down the wrong path?”

Children of incarcerated parents are more likely to struggle at school than other students. They often deal with behavioral and health issues, as well as substance abuse. According to a study conducted by Central Connecticut State University, the child of an inmate is 3x more likely than other children to be tried for a crime. Stronger Together offers a safe place for parents to learn from each other and encourage one another.

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
